I am an avid runner and love races! In 2015 alone, I ran 11 Half Marathons, 3 Full Marathons, and lots of smaller distances races with a few OCR’s thrown in. All together I logged over 1000 miles in 2015! 🙂
One of my favorite races this year…wait who am I kidding..I loved them all! Seriously tho…one of my favs was the Marine Corp Marathon in Washington DC. I ran for the Burma Humanitarian Mission which made the training and race even more memorable. Read all about the cause here.
Running became a passion for me after I had my son in 2010. I was overweight from the pregnancy and wanted so badly to get back to a healthy size. My mom suggested running so I found a run/walk program that would ease me into it. Within 90 days I had shed 60 pounds and was feeling amazing!
While I have kept off most of the weight, I still tend binge on my favorite foods like Mexican and pizza. I think it’s important to be able to have those favorite foods, but I also need to learn moderation and how to stop when I’m full. Which is tough because I love chips, salsa, and CHEESE dip!
My son Silas loves to run too! He did several 1 mile fun runs this year and even got a first place finish! I love to see families working out together! Teaching children the importance of being active when they are young will help them live a healthy lifestyle. But you can’t just tell them…you have to show them!
